I recently read that the Intel 915 chipset supports DDR and DDR2 memory. That leads to my three questions.

Are there motherboards with the mentioned chipset that are equipped with memory sockets suitable for both DDR and DDR2 memory, that is sockets that don?t care whether I plug in a 184-pin or a 240-pin module.

Are there motherboards that have sockets for both DDR and DDR2?

Are there any differences in terms of performance between a DDR 400mhz module and a DDR2 400mhz module?

I haven't heard of anything like that yet. But I wouldn't be supprised if someone like ECS comes out with a mobo that supports both types of DIMM's like their K7S5A boards which supported Pc133 & DDR

Yes there are, only in the Intel P4 world obviously. Just like in the SDR-DDR transitional times, it's either the one or the other, not both at the same time.
