I have few computers, with variety of Mobos.

Each computer has a Mobile Rack to allow Boot HDs with different OS?.

To date I never experience change in the Boot and a need for manual CMOS configuration of any Mobo I ever used due to changing the HD.

I just finish installing a new mATX GIGABYTE GA-945GCMX-S2 (recommended as the first choice of inexpensive mATX it the Mobo's Sticky thread).

Using E2180, No OC, or any other crafty idea, Onboard Graphic, and two sticks of HP GB DDR2.

Well surprise. Every time that I changed the HD the Mobo complains about CMOS Checksum and rests the BIOS setting without asking for permission to the default.

In addition, the BIOS resets itself automatically to default if the computer freezes, and some other events that I usually would not be a cause to self Reset the BIOS..

It is like a Mother Board on a Reset Steroid ;).

Is this a general behavior of LGA775 ICH7 Motherboards or a specific ?Quirk? in this Model?
