I've aquired an AMD XP 1900 cpu, and was wondering if anyone could recomend a motherboard to optimize the performance? I was thinking maybe ASUS A7V266E. Any ideas?

I'd recommend the Shuttle AK31A. If you don't plan on doing any insane o/cing, this is a great board. NewEgg.com got it for around $80. The only flaw is that you have to configure the memory settings yourself for max performance, read the newegg reviews for the instructions. I've had it for about 6 months without a single problem.

Newegg was selling a refurbished 8KHA+ for only $69 with free shipping this morning. Probably sold out by now.

It really depends on which features you want/need on a board and whether or not you plan on overclocking. There a quite a few KT266A boards that could work out very well for you.

i'm very happy with both the shuttle ak31a (or ak35 now) and the soltek 75drv2 (or drv4 if you want ata133)
both are very stable and oc pretty well if you are into that (soltek is better oc, shuttle is cheaper).
good luck

Love this board. I've just been using the Soltek board a little more, and I can say I am not impressed. It isn't nearly as stable as my Asus.

With motherboards, your money is well spent for buying a brand name.
