Mobo rated at 1333, 1800(OC), 2000(OC)

Hi,

I have a couple questions about the rig I want to build soon.

The mobo that I was thinking of to getting:
EVGA 132-CK-NF79-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI DDR3 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/product/...x?item=N82E16813188025

says that its memory standard is DDR3 1333, 1800(OC), 2000(OC). The memory that I was planning on getting is:

CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.com/product/...x?item=N82E16820145200

Since this memory is rated at 1600, does that mean it wouldn't work for this mobo? I just figured the memory could be overclocked to work or something. Is this the case? Does anyone know if I will run into weird issues when I put the two of these together? Will this work 'out of the box' or will I need to mess with it by ocing before it will work properly? I'd really appreciate any advice on this. Thanks🙂

Should work. MAny motherboards don't list support for slower RAM because they want to be "cutting-edge." I would question why you're getting DDR3 now anyway, but ok.

Thanks for the reply🙂 The main reason I'm going DDR3 is because I want the 790i :-D. I want to get into the OC scene and want to have plenty of legroom with overclocking and that board seems to be getting some pretty solid reviews all around so far. Is this a bad choice? I'd appreciate any suggestions as this is my first build and I don't want to mess it up.

Well there are two little problems:

1) DDR3. You'll pay way up your *** for this stuff.
2) Nvidia boards, like 680i and 780i, tend to have hot running northbridge chipsets. Get an aftermarket cooler or just point a fan at it.
