The only problem with that is, even though P4's overclock pretty good, your NOT going to get a 1.9 GHz to 3 GHz without some sort of major cooling. Sure, you may get it to run pretty fast, but then don't be surprized if your system locks up or your cpu stops working after a couple of months. Better to spend the little extra money and buy the faster cpu, get the extra speed AND stablility.

You will probably get 2.5 GHz MAX with that 1.9 GHz.

Not sure if you have some great deal on 1.9 cpu but just to break it down:

from pricewatch:

1.9 GHz P4 Northwood: $140 which you MIGHT be able to get to 2.5 GHz

or

2.4 GHz P4 Northwood: $160 (that's only $20 more for this faster cpu)

or

2.53 GHz P4 Northwood: $180 (only $40 more and still has it's warranty).

Good luck

There isn't a 1.9GHz Northwood. It's a Willamette processor. You won't get anywhere near 2.5GHz with that.

Ha Ha, not a chance, bud. Get a 2.4B and an Abit motherboard, and don't overclock it until you know what you are doing.

oh boy fish i suggest you decide what you want in ur system buy all of the parts put it together (make sure u put the ram in right)
u dont want to repeat ur bd7 incident. and give it to me to overclock
as u would probably kill it especially if ur going to get liquid cooling
besides if you want to overclock ur gonna need some better ram too and im not sure ur gonna be able to do much with that $600
with a cpu costing like 150 a motherboard around 100-150 a new video card probably 100-200 probably 512mb pc2700ddr preferably 3000
and that will cost like 100-200 depending
and then u have to buy watercooling which is atleast 100 usually around 200 for a good setup as u can see thats way way over 600

oh and if i were you i would try and get either a 2.4b c1 or a 2.53 c1 cpu as both of them overclock extremely well usually
or if you can get a 2.4b c1 miltiple vid cpu it would be even better
i think frys has some of those but they might be sold out im not sure
also all 2.66s are northwood c1 cpus
i suggest you consult me before you buy any cpu (unless you buy in the fs/ft forum as 99.9% of the p4s in there are northwoods and usually decent overclockers)

if you want to build a good rig and overclock it your gonna need quite a bit of money

my rig cost around 1800 or so to build (thats without a monitor and with some really good deals) i couldn't be happier with it though

Your right, damn, I don't even see ANY 1.9 GHz Northwoods until the last vendor: $227!!! Crazy. For that price you can get the P4 2.6 GHz.
