mobo prolem??

I just completed building my computer... i connected it to the power supply.. when i switched the power button...nothing happened...i just heard a sound and my mobo fan, cpu fan rotated for about few seconds and then stopped!.. i tries changing the psu to no good..i even removed all my stuff except mobo, ram, video card and tried starting..it dint work..i tried shorting the power switch from the case...it still dint work!...please help: i dunno what wrong??..is it something with the mobo??

Did you try resetting the CMOS?

i tried restting the CMOS as well..it still doesnot work..i striped down my computer to bare minimum and tried starting...it doesnot work...

The problem, right off the bat, is your power supply, which on a scale of one to ten (ten being the best), puts you at a negative one with the raidmax 420 piece of junk.

And it's not all about the watts, but about the amps on the 12v rail that makes the difference.

its a 12 v 13 A power supply.....i also tried using another psu..n my comp still gave me the same problem

You need at least 24a on the 12v rail to have any kind of system stability. As you saw for yourself, 13amps won't even boot your system. And how many amps were on the other psu?

If you plan to run Sli (and I'm thinking you are, as you do have the Sli version of the board), then look for a single rail psu with at lease 26a on the 12v rail.

damn it!....it did not make a difference even after i changed the psu...the only thing that was different was that the mobo fan and the cpu fan ran for alonger time(maybe 15 sec) and then stopped!!..so im back where i started!!.. is it my mobo thats got a problem or my cpu..how do i check each of them individually??..please help!!..im really frustrated with this..help!

take the mobo out of the case and run it outside. there can be a short circuit with the case.... so take it outside place it in the mobo box connect only the ram cpu and display and try powering it on while clearing the cmos.

And make sure you have the AUX12V connected to the board, as you won't get a POST without it. It's also a good idea to plug in a molex connector at the top PCI-E port. For some odd reason, I couldn't get a couple boards to POST without, even when using only a single video card.
