Mobo/processor = dead? What happens?

So I bought a pc off the forums here, and it worked and everything, then one night I turned it off, and the next morning it would not boot.

athlon xp 2600+
hp/compaq pc, so whatever motherboard they used.

When it stoped working this is what would happen when trying to power the pc on.
It woudl power up, and the fans would spin, the lights on the keyboard would flash, and then go out.

The monitor would never get a display signal. So...
I pulled the vid card, and tried the onboard video... didnt work.
I tested the vid card in my other pc, and it worked,
I pulled both sticks of ram out and tested in my other pc, it still worked
My other comp detected the hard drive as well.

I do not even get a bios screen.

So me thinking the motherboard might be shot, I bought a new motherboard, and case, and psu, I installed the 2600 into the new mobo, and hooked everything up, and I get the same result,...

So either i fried my new mobo already, or the cpu is bad, is what I am thinking...

Any help would be apreciated. And thanks in advance, please reply ASAP.

if the lights on the keyboard flash, it means it can post, at the very least. try resetting your bios jumper. if that doesn't work, find another cpu to test with.

Damn, unfortunately thats not an option. The lights blink and the cd rom can open/shut, but thats it. Once the lights flash initialy, then wont come back on by pressing num/caps/scroll at all

I am having almost the same problem, but my cd rom, hd, cpu fan have power to them. The monitor signal isn't going through and I have switched video cards just to make sure it was the problem. I can't get to the bios screen at all, could it be the cpu itself? I just purchased an anthlon xp 64 2800. Help!!!!!!!!!!
