MOBO Prob

Bought this MOBO a little over a year ago... and it has been somewhat unstable from the start, I just havnt done anything about it.

ECS PT800CE-A

It is kinda unstable, and sometimes crashes, and crashes more frequently when I use devices that are hooked up to the PCI slots (like firewire card, sometimes modem, etc...) and ocassionally when I use the USB ports.

I tried updating the BIOS, helps a little, but not much. I dont think it is my MOBO, because my uncle has the same board, and the same problems

Is there anythign I can do to fix it? Even though it was cheap, I'd hate to waste $$ and buy a new one.

Although, it would be nice if you also had suggestions on a new, cheap MOBO that you have experience with, and is stable... I currently have a Socket 478, P4 CPU.

A motherboard on the Intel 865PE chipset would be your best bet. I've built a couple of systems with boards based on that chipset for friends and I never hear any complaints from them. Never.

If you got symptoms from PCI cards and USB devices, then that strongly points to poor 5V power supply.
