mobo poll: which one motherboard company do you hate with a passion?

Kind of a stupid poll ....... IMHO ........ they all are WONDERFUL .......... and they all SUCK ..........!!!

Just depends on your personal experience and/or lack of experience ......... plus some luck/chance thrown-in the mix .....?

Generally though, it seems like the more it cost, the better quality you get .......... usually, (hopefully)?

I've got 2 of them 😀

Winner: ECS (and the entire shady group)

Runner up: ZIDA

Damn, Where's the poll???
:disgust:

EDIT: Whoops, I wasn't logged in 😀

I hate two particularily, ECS and MSI. ECS for all the crap they dish out, and MSI for boards that are not reliable in the long run.

I had to put down PC Chips because none of the boards that I've used from them have worked well (4 different 486 models and 2 socket 7). I spent some time ripping out a PCChips 430TX board and putting in an Asus board w/ almost the same specs and noticed a signifigant difference.

My vote goes to ECS and PC CHIPS.
I was ask to set up two ECS, one with SIS chipsets (all integrated) and one with VIAs. None worked ever, they were extremely cheap, that's for sure. The driver CD was in chinnese and work commanding Win98SE windows to setup drivers, but couldn't comand it well, perhaps the spanish Win98SE don't work with the chinnese drivers, but I was unable to download from Internet becouse of slow ECS site (I was using a modem at that time). Finally it reset itself after 5 mins of ripping movies with 3D Now ops.
In the PC CHIPS, I really hate the "one driver CD fits all motherboards" that they like so much. Finding the drivers is a pain in the butt. The mobos are cheap but lagged from every other. The price diference with a BIOSTAR is minimun, and those are far better, you can only buy PC CHIPs if you are a dummy.

ASUS!

Sure they make great motherboards, but why would I want to spend the extra money for rude customer service?

They charge on average like $10-$20 more for the same things ABIT, EPoX, Gigabyte, and Soyo offers, and a hell of a lot more than MSI and ECS. Unless they have something others don't, I would NEVER buy ASUS.

<< I have had to try and fix way too many of my friends computers with PC Chips boards. >>

FYI!! PC Chips=ECS=A shady group of brands for mobos made by one single company

What they have is reliability, a proven track record, and very few problems. You pay for that, and as the biggest manufacturer for a long time, they know you will. Anyone using a ECS board for business should have their head examined.

ASUS the first !!!!... had this one for two days, but dead when I updated the BIOS.. needed to spend 25 more bucks for new BIOS chips to make it works again, da hell with the manual,... it helped me nothin' and the heat always worries me... eeewww 🙂

PC CHIPS the second,... bad... bad quality of everythin'. I hope ECS group, the new owner of this mobo manufacturer move the factory to other country where the human capital has better knowedge of how making the good mobo.

<< The worst experience I've ever had with a mobo was with an AZZA. Sure would like to see them on this list... >>

AZZA-A fallen angel who is condemned to suffer a unique punishment for his sins. Accordining to Jewish lore, Azza was bitterly opposed to God's plan to reward the patriarch Enoch with elevation to angelic status. (Enoch was transformed into the angel prince Metatron). Expelled from heaven, Azza was hung upside down between earth and paradise. Ever plunging but never actually crashing, he is forced uncontrollably to open one eye so that the full horror of his predicament is driven home. Prior to his fall, Azza was listed as a ministering angel (in the third book of Enoch) and is said to have been responsible for teaching the famed King Solomon many secrets of heaven.

(from: http://heavensangel.net/a.htm)

I've always wanted to comment on AZZA boards... 🙂
Hate ECS/PC Chips, DFI, QDI as well...

mbf:

HAHA!

I see I may not be the only one around who has heard of AZZA B4!

It looks as if us jerks who bit on their a$$inine marketing crap might be paying AZZA's price...

Can we assume you've had problems with the AZZA Mobo too?

edit: darned keyboard still can't spell worth a @#$#%

PCChips. i mean, comeon! they dont have enough faith in their own product to put their names on it!!!!

also, i called this one store last week and asked for an ECS board, they said, "We stopped using carrying those ECS because they were so unreliable, so now we only use AZZA" hahahahhahah!

It's not really in my capacity to build up hatred for an inanimate object.. but I guess I'm not a big Shuttle fan. I've owned two, one came DOA and one lasted me a good month.

As for ECS, I've heard they really suck and are horrible and all, but everyone I know here either has that or an MSI 266A board and the MSI's have failed more often. Ahh well.. I'm happy with my Epox 🙂

Simple- ABIT

Can you say getting charged $20 for a RMA? Let's get real, your losing money/time on a deal, and they want to charge you for their defective product?
That's also the reason Russ won't stock/sell anything from them- burned him pretty severely

PC-CHIPS is suck 🙂

And I'll put in my vote for company I like: MSI! Just bought one and I must say, so far reliable, no crashes, and the BEST manual I've ever seen for a motherboard. Every single BIOS setting explained!!! The manual is a small novel 🙂

Tyan for their horrendous support, which Is Suck.

Stable hardware though, I'll give them that (unless your in ACPI mode on a S1598, then your SOL courtesy of Tyan). 🙂
