Motherboard - ASUS A7V8X-X (latest BIOS) (All Default settings)
RAM - 2 APACER 512MB UNB PC2700 CL2.5 P/N 77.10728.19A
Bank A - S/N 1104022-80470
Bank B - S/N 1104022-80464
Operating System - Windows XP Home Edition (all updates)
Sapphire Radeon 9600 256MB (Catalyst 4.2 - latest)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
2 IDE Maxtor drives (40GB & 60GB)
1 DVD ROM (Lite-On)
1 DVD-RW (Pioneer A05)
1 3.5 floppy
400 watt power supply
Zalman CPU Cooler
2 System fans
(System is running well below temperature thresholds)
1) Bank A in DIMM1 - System reboots 15 - 45 seconds after Windows loads.
2) Bank B in DIMM1 - System constantly reboots
3) Bank A in DIMM2 - System seems stable
4) Bank B in DIMM2 - System reboots every 2 -3 minutes after Windows loads
5) Bank A in DIMM3 - System stable
6) Bank B in DIMM3 - System stable
7) Bank A in DIMM1 & Bank B in DIMM2 - System will not boot
8) Bank A in DIMM2 & Bank B in DIMM3 - System reboots every 2 - 4 minutes after Windows loads
Note: Ran Microsoft Memory test for 6+ hours no failure.
NOTE: Configuration worked with BIOSTAR M7VIF motherboard.
So is my problem a bad motherboard or bad/marginal RAM ???????
