mobo issue or?

I just bought some kingston hyperx 4000 to install on my Epox 8k3a+ w/ AMD 2600+(non-barton) and i can't seem to get the thing to hit 190 mhz stable, i get lots of on screen artifacts when i get to that fsb. Right now it's seemingly running stable at 180mhz. BTW, i couldn't hit 180 w/ my previous memory (even though they should have, but the other 512 is going in another rig).

I really want to run this at least around 220 fsb and just drop the multiplier (for some odd reason, i can change the multiplication on my non barton cpu) to ~11. should i try and get rid of this mobo and get an nforce2? maybe it has something to do with nother component and not the mobo? ideas?

Holy out-of-spec PCI & AGP bus speeds, Batman! :Q The 8K3A+ is based on the KT333 chipset. It simply ain't built for 200MHz+ bus speeds. No wonder you're having issues... get an nForce2 board of some kind, perhaps a Shuttle AN35N Ultra

haha, oops.
i'm checking out newegg right now. in addition to the shuttle, any other mobos for around that price range you would reccomend? what's the difference between SSP, MCP, and MCP-T?

they have a refurb asus a7n8x (soundstorm sound, i'm with a sb live), any good?
