I just bought some kingston hyperx 4000 to install on my Epox 8k3a+ w/ AMD 2600+(non-barton) and i can't seem to get the thing to hit 190 mhz stable, i get lots of on screen artifacts when i get to that fsb. Right now it's seemingly running stable at 180mhz. BTW, i couldn't hit 180 w/ my previous memory (even though they should have, but the other 512 is going in another rig).

I really want to run this at least around 220 fsb and just drop the multiplier (for some odd reason, i can change the multiplication on my non barton cpu) to ~11. should i try and get rid of this mobo and get an nforce2? maybe it has something to do with nother component and not the mobo? ideas?

thanks!

Holy out-of-spec PCI & AGP bus speeds, Batman! :Q The 8K3A+ is based on the KT333 chipset. It simply ain't built for 200MHz+ bus speeds. No wonder you're having issues... get an nForce2 board of some kind, perhaps a Shuttle AN35N Ultra :)

they have a refurb asus a7n8x (soundstorm sound, i'm with a sb live), any good?
