I'm trying to figure out what I can get in a mobo, cpu, ram and video card for $300.

Thanks a ton for your time and knowledge of the market, folks!
-----------------------------
1. What YOUR PC will be used for.
Some gaming, watching video, light Photoshop and Internet.

2. What YOUR budget is.
$300.

3. What country.
Idaho, USA. Gonna mail order the parts, so Newegg, etc.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference.
None.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, case, PSU, optical drive, hard drive and OS.

6. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
Only what overclocking that can be done with the stock HSF. Not into aggressive overclocking.

7. What resolution will you be using?
Right now I'm running just 1440 X 900.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
About a month or less when my tax return comes in.

seems like
core i3 $110 atm
h61 or h67 mobo $50 atm
2x4gb ddr3 ~$40
6770/5770 or 550 ti ~$100 (might change soon, hopefully the 6850 hits $100 :\ although it doesn't seem like it will, 5770 should be enough for 1440x900 gaming on high settings anyway)
currently the best thing <=$100 is probably the 5750, or if refurb is ok the refurb 550 ti (1 year warranty)

<=$300 (may need to add tax if internet purchases in idaho are taxed?)

lower end ivybridge won't be out by then, the only thing i see changing much might be gpu pricing

it's still a bit early to ask for pricing information though, maybe check back 1-2 weeks before you decide to buy

Fralexander is right that we can't really make specific recommendations a month out, especially for such a tight budget. A general sketch is:

Pentium G620 $70
H61 mobo $60
8GB DDR3 1333/1600 $40
6850 $140

Thanks for the replies. That gives me an idea of where the bang for the buck is right now, and gives me a point to start watching deals from over the next few weeks.
