Mobo-CPU combos...suggestions/comments plz

what kind of stuff do you want?
usb 2.0?
overclocking?
high quality onboard sound? or basic onboard sound?
is low price very high on your list, or do you want a high quality product?

if you plan to overclock at I would suggest looking at the XP 1600+ or the MSI SIS 745 Ultra or the MSI KT3 Ultra. If I didn't already have an XP 1700+ overclock to 2000+ using an ECS K7S5A I would take a close look any those mobos.

I'm looking to upgrade my cpu and mobo.
I'm probably gonna do some overclocking too.

Cost is an issue, however, I do not want a "cheap" mobo...just a solid one.

I'm would probably get the XP1600+ and I'm just looking for a decent mobo to pair it up with.

I saw a few mobo-cpu combos in the Hot Deals and I'm considering them if theyre decent.

personally i would get the epox 8k3a+ and get a 1600+ or 1700+ cpu

there are several good boards out there, but the epox has everything i want, including a great overclocker

Just sticking to the two choices you mention/linked, it would be hands down; go for the AK31 & XP1800+. Just plan on getting a sound card (if you don't already have one) as the onboard sound is spotty at best. There are of course, other combos out there but that one seems to be pretty good.

EDIT:After looking more closely at that AK31 combo you linked to, I found a couple of things decidedly wrong with it. In looking at the board that is offered, it is the AK31, not the AK31A; which is a big difference. The details on the MB list the chipset as the KT266, not the KT266A. Not such a good deal now. You'd be better off getting the same (Better) combo from NewEgg for around $140 (plus tax) shipped. That would be the AK31A rev. 3.1 and an XP 1700+ CPU.

Another solid option that would be within $20 or so of the above suggestion, would the the the SL-75DRV4 (Purple Ray Ver.) with an XP 1700+ CPU; also from NewEgg, ordered separately.
