mobo/cpu combo

Looking at getting some new hardware, love the AMD stuff so I am looking into upgrading to socket 939, what do you guys think of this mobo/cpu combo?

Depends on what you want to use it for.

the main advantage to the 3000+ is how well it overclocks. its not a very powerful cpu otherwise. what video card are you planning on getting?

Agreed, you may want to look for a more powerful CPU. On the flip side, you may be able to get a cheaper mobo following this motherboard selection guide.

You'll need an AGP mobo if you want to keep that. The ASUS you're linking to is PCI-E.

MSI K8N Neo2-F, $70. Good for OC'ing too, should you decide to go that way some time later. Comes with a lot of features.


As for the CPU, an FX-55 or 57 would be best, but they are very expensive. A hapy inbetween could be a 3500+ or 3800+, depending on your budget.
