I've posted this before but I still haven't quite figured it out yet.
I'm using an Epox 8KHA+, an Athlon XP 1700+, with a generic case and 300w PSU.
The problem is, if I screw in the mobo into the case and plug all the correct things into the correct places, the computer doesn't like to boot up. What happens is, when I switch on the PSU, then push the power button, all the fans and the status light come on for about a second and then turn off. Now when I take the mobo out and push the power button, the system turns on. I have the appropriate standoffs and screws in place, yet somehow the mobo is still conflicting with the case (I think anyway). I still haven't 100% proven that that is the case though. I've wondered if it could be a defective PSU but I can't exactly afford a new PSU and then find out it wasn't the PSU afterall.
I've even placed the sheet that came with the mobo under the mobo in the case so that nothing except the screws are touching the board. The sheet meaning the thing that was placed under the mobo to protect the bottom.
Any ideas?
