Mobo choice

Hey all,

I'm doing a system up for a hardware-illiterate mate, who probably won't be upgrading for a year and a half to two years. I'm gonna stick an XP1700 in there, mainly due to the price difference between that and the XP1800, then pair it with a GFII Pro or GFIII Ti200, but my main problem is the mobo - I was thinking K7S5A, but there's gotta be better long term solutions around.

Any suggestions?

I have no idea specifically, but I find that the important points are:

More than 2 RAM slots
Enough PCI slots to upgrade
Any onboard features that may be wanted in the future, if not now (they dont add much cost to the board)
Decent chipset (read some reviews, see what chipset you like and pick a board that features it)

Thats just how I choose a board. I find that I normally choose Gigabyte 🙂

Okay... two votes for the Epox

It's out at auspcmarket - $275 (AUD) ain't bad value... outta stock though 🙁
