Mobo Backplates -- Universal?

Hey all,

Are the backplates we put on the back of most mobos (I am talking 775 here) from aftermarket HSF generally universal? I mean if I have a backplate on my mobo from my Tunic Tower, and have to replace the tower and want to put say a 120 extreme... the backplate is a backplate is a backplate right? At most I would just use the same screws as maybe from company to company they use different threading? Not sure.

 
They should be very similar as the hole spacing is always the same, but the plate's distance from the mobo out in the hole area may be different enough to not be usable with another HSF. You'll just have to compare and see. Plus, heavier HSFs may have stronger back plates...
