I'm thinking about getting the DFI BLOOD IRON P35-T2RL board and a freezer 7 pro cooler.
Would this be the best OC combo for the money? I would like to get about 3.2GHz out of my E6420. Other stuff I'll be using is in my sig.
I thought about the Abit IP35-E, but it doesn't have RAID.
I've read good and bad reviews on the freezer 7 cooler at newegg..do u think it's a capable cooler for what I need or is there something better?
My budget is $150 max..lower the better though.

thanks

With that cooler perhaps not - it is about average in terms of performance. If you are able to run at default vcore then you have a shot at 3.2. Now 3.0 is almost 100%

Only owned one DFIboard so far and it was excellent (actually 2 of the Skt 939 Ultra-Ds). Virtually any MB with the P35 should be good - all comes down to build quality and features - DFI should be fine

Try the Arctic cooler Freezer 7 Pro, the Sythe Ninja Plus Rev B is also very good and should be priced around $25-29 or some OCZ Vendetta models

I just noticed that the Blood Iron board uses a 8 pin CPU power connector and my PSU only has the older 4 pin plug. Would this still work or would I need to buy a new PSU to use this motherboard?

thanks

If you don't mind 120mm, this is the best low cost cooler you can get right now, until the Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme is released.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835233003
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835124019 (same cooler, but with a Kingwin fan, $3 less)

Xigmatek designed the 92mm OCZ Vendetta, which is similar in performance to the Freezer Pro.

You could also get a Noctua NH-U12 (120mm) for half the price like this:

http://www.svc.com/u8-120.html = http://www.xoxide.com/noctua-nh-u12-cooler.html (same cooler, no $30 Noctua fan)

For 3.2GHz, the Freezer 7 would be enough though. Can't really beat it for ~$20.
