X300 compares to Radeon 8500LE/9000 ?? (Correct me on this)

X600 = Radeon 9600

X700 = Radeon 9600 XT

X1300 = ??? (should be faster than X700 right?)

X1400 =??? (should be faster than X1300 right?)

I left Nvidia Cards out because usually there cards dont ship with Penitum M/Core DUos (other than there flagship cards).

You're looking to compare Mobility Radeons to desktop Radeons?

They're all pretty much the same actually, except for clock.

Or are you asking something different?

Im trying to figure out where which desktop card do they compare too. Ever since ATI stopped using mobile radeon 7500/8500/9000/9600/9700's naming conventions, its been harder to understand which GPU your getting.

As I said, mobile cards are pretty much the same as their desktop equivalents. In all reality, mobile graphics really drives desktop graphics development. It is in the manufacturer's best interest to develop a lower power, smaller, cheaper GPU that can be used in notebooks; thus why not use the same thing in desktops?

The entire Mobility Radeon X-series is pretty much the exact equivalent of the desktop Radeon series. Same physical specs (pixel pipes, ALU's, ROP's, etc), but clock speeds are different. Also drivers are different and generally not as well optimized.

Are the X1300/1400 faster than a desktop 9600XT? I havent been keeping up with low end graphics cards. Also how does the X300 stack against the radeon 9000?

Are we talking Mobility Radeon X1300/X1400? If so, I think they would be pretty evenly matched. The X1300 & X1400 both are a 4x1 design, but for notebooks have to use lower clocks. Clocks vary by the notebook, but given the 9600XT's are clocked in the 500MHz range I don't think the MR models get that high. Given architecture advancements in the X1000-series and the clock speed difference, I would say the two models are pretty evenly matched.

The MR X300 & R9000 depend on the bus width. Most MR X300's are 128-bit I believe, but IIRC most R9000's are 64-bit. That right there hands it to the MR X300's. Again I think both are 4x1 architectures, but it will come down to clock & bus width.
