i can guarantee you that you're not on 2G data after you use up your full speed HSPA+ quota. you're still on HSPA+ but throttled.
 
Hey guys, looking into both StraightTalk and Sprint. On Sprint, is it unlimited texting to anyone on any carrier? Their site says "In Our Network" so I'm not sure if that means to only Sprint phones, or what.
 
Sprint coverage, speed, and customer service sucks. I mean sucks. I can't emphasize it enough. The only 'good' thing about sprint in their rates are low.

Their 4G sucks. Their 3G speeds just about everywhere are horrible, unless you hit that one 'lucky' spot where you are right under their tower.

I use sprint. 5 years ago, I got their broadband card and was using it. After 2 years, the speeds dropped so low that I could no longer open webpages. I bought an amplifier and external yagi antennae. After 2 weeks of yelling at them on the phone they 'found' that they had shut down my local tower (permanently).

Their coverage map still isn't updated. Years later.

AT&T speeds and coverage are ok. Verizon are the best, in terms of both speed and coverage. Their prices reflect it.

I'm still on Sprint. Actually, with Boost now, as of 4 months ago. Boost uses sprint's network (3G), but is 55 a month for unlimited everything. That drops 5 bucks a month every 6 months that you don't have a late bill. No contract. Virgin and Boost are both owned by Sprint, FYI. I've grown used to not necessarily being able to stream stuff, but I can still send/receive emails and use the web pretty much everywhere. Even Sprint's crappy 3G is usually enough for that.

I won't go into how many times Sprint billing tried to screw me. I don't miss those fights at all.
 
I've been using the Samsung Galaxy Proclaim from Straight Talk for about 2 months and love it. It uses the Verizon pre-paid network and picks up great. The only downside is that is 3G only but works out fine for me.
 
I don't understand why there's so much hate for Sprint. Allot of you say there's no coverage, but I have a 6-7yr old phone with them and have never had an issue. Climbing mountains wandering through fields...wherever I go I can always get a call through. Even the 3G on my phone works great, the web is fast and I get free Pandora premium (no adds unlimited skips) and it streams all day no issues (as long as I keep this old battery charged).

I just did a trip across America, then a few thousand miles exploring Florida, the Everglades and the Keys, and then back (raced back, from the keys to Seattle in just over 42 hours). I relied on my phone to keep up to date and stay in contact with civilization and had no issues. If my ancient smart phone can do it, I suspect new phones to be even better.

I've had fairly decent experience with their customer service too. Rare I need to use it, but last time I can recall was an error with billing, and initially was assured things would be fixed. Well somebody goofed somewhere or dropped the ball after my chat but some time later I was trying to figure out what happened/what the progress was and they got the issue fixed immediately and put $50 on my account for the mistake.

I don't expect anybody or any company can be 100% perfect, but they eventually got things fixed and made it right giving me a credit. I think I would still reccomend Sprint for anybody thats wants a smartphone and plans to use it to the fullest...because from what Ive seen their service and coverage is good and their prices better than the rest. My plan is an old unlimited everything for $30, now its like $80-90...so a little tougher to swallow, but better than $100+ for limited service.
 
It all depends on where you're at. Complaints about coverage (and to a lesser degree speeds) is absolutely worthless without knowing where you're at.

For what it's worth, Sprint's LTE speeds hit just over 20MBps. So if you're in one of those areas, you should be ok.

And same with me hearing peoples voices from my handset/car bluetooth... it's just frustrating not being able to understand people during a conversation.

Of course all these instances were when I was driving... still though, it shouldn't be this way.

The best part is when I'm out on the boat. Sometimes, their Canadian tower somehow 'picks up' my call, even though I'm twice as far from that tower as the US....

That's always a fun discussion when I see the $400 bill for international calling.
 
The one in the correct forum.

Also, Tmobiles prepaid 30 dollar plan has been great for me. But that requires a new line of service. You cant port a number or switch plans over.

Free messages only to other Sprint phones. Their "anymobile" plans do have unlimited voice minutes with any mobile phone number, regardless of carrier.

me too. just got done watching the last three seasons of 'the league' with no problems whatsoever on netflix over my phone through sprint.
