Mobile Pentium Question

I am not very familiar with laptops, so when I started up the office laptop (Compaq EVO N1000c) and ran WCPUID, I was surprised to find:

Name String: Intel Pentium 4 Mobile CPU 1.70GHz

Family: 15 Model: 2 Stepping: 4

Internal Clock: *** 1196.11 MHz ***

System Clock: 99.68 MHz

Multiplier: 12.0

Does Intel pull an AMD when it comes to mobile processor labelling? Or is it WCPUID's problem.

Thanks

Im going to guess you were on battery power when you checked the CPU speed..thats speedstep at work, on battery power the laptop runs at 12x100 (1200mhz) on AC power it runs 17x100 (1700mhz)
so it doesnt matter if you have a 2.8ghz laptop, on battery, its still 1200mhz
