Mobile Pentium 4 or Pentium Mobile?

Which is better for general usage (word processing, surfing the internet, listening to music, watching movies) a 3.06 ghz Mobile P4, or a 1.5 ghz Pentium Mobile processor? I realize I'm sacrificing a little battery life and going to be taking a little extra weight with the Mobile P4 compared to the P-M, but do you guys think its worth it for the extra power that it will give me?

I've found Mobilemarks scores of the 3.06 at 216 and the 1.7 at 195, but I don't know what that actually means, and how a 1.5 would compare to the 3.06

Yea, but I want this system to last me a few years.

Seriously, if that's all you're doing, a Mobile Celeron/P3 will last a few years.

If you want to game on it, that's a whole different bag.

I don't really care that much about gaming, because I'll be in college. Well if a Pentium III or whatever will last a couple years, then the 3.06 should last even longer! I only spent like 1400, which isn't too much, so I don't care. But I guess I could have gotten a slow one for like 900. Oh well, I should be happy with the 5150, I would think.

whatever you do...DO NOT buy a celeron...they are the worst you can buy and will not perform very well...if you are strapped for money or anything look at the athlon XP line...good performance for the price...

well said 🙂 Plus PowerNow! offers more options than speedstep on a PIII or celery would offer.
