I need to buy a laptop. Portability(i.e. small size) or battery life is not important. I basically need a fairly powerful system that I can transport between two offices and use as I would a desktop. This machine would only be used for office type applications, gaming will NOT be happening. It needs a good size screen since this will basically function as a portable desktop computer. It will need to be running Windows.

Any recommendations you could make would be appreciated!

Screen size would be as big as I can get at the above price point. 15" would be the min. acceptable though. Since this machine will basically be a replacement for a desktop PC, bigger screen=better. Seems like the Dell 9300 is looking pretty decent. I will check the IBM though.
 
if you're not going to be gaming the dell inspiron 6000 might not be bad, it's way cheaper then the 9300 and there's a coupon code for 800 off if you're american and you price it out higher then 1499 i believe.
 
Ya that would save you a big deal. I don't know how portal the 6000 is, but it's worth looking at for the price alone.

The T42 you can get deals by mastercard/visa, student discount or if you know someone who works there. They become worth your while when you get the discount.
