oh, no:Q!! just when I thought it was safe to go back into the "CPU/PROCESSORS AND OVERCLOCKING" forum. . .🙁

heh, who'm I kidding😉?? I'm gettin' me one😀!

PS. thanks for the PM, THUGS😛

hhhhmmm this is reaaaaaally tempting considering i will have my prometia cooler soon :Q what kinda fsb do you think these could get to with that cooling????? 🙂

its more like how much can you push your memory. this would be a good setup to try those OCZ PC3500 EL sticks of RAM. On oc-prices.com they had a ram shootout with the EL sticks running steady at 480MHz DDR. might've been a hand picked stick for sure.

So, how high is the average stable overclock of these cpu's?

. . .or: I guess Mikki and THUGS are on the front lines again, eh😉?

Mikki's chip did very well and maxed out at his ram limit. (220fsb so far)
unfortunately he doesnt have a 4:3 (reverted) mem ratio to go further 🙁

my board does have a 4:3 ratio so either way i will be able to find a limit beyond my mem capabilities 😀

Got mine too! Can't wait to slap it in my 8INXP with Corsair xms 3500. Thursday should be a very interesting day!

In my research to better understand the differences between the m-chips and the desktop chips, and how the m-chips work on desktop boards, I've dug up some interesting info.

Intel states that the max v-core for the m-chips is 1.75v at any pin. This is off the datasheet and doesn't mean everyone should go cranking their P4's up. But it does make me feel better about running mine at 1.6xv. Also, it say's that extended exposure to the max ratings may affect device reliability (duh!!).

The max temp for the die junction (hottest location on die) is 100c. The chip will automatically shutdown when the silicon reaches 135c, but I haven't found anything yet on temp throttling...

I've also found the pins that control the output voltage (which would go to the mobo to let it know what voltage the chip is running at), and how they're control, but don't know if those states are initially on or off. I'm just gathering info on this right now, I don't intend on doing any modding at this time.

Well done on the overclocking Mikki 😀 and bump for some good info about the P4mobile specs!

anybody know where I can find some decent RAM that'll do 266fsb

?

Whoa! If that is any indication on your progress with your p4m, we are in for a treat!!! Tell us more...

hi, PJ🙂

I'm chomping at the bit, waiting for 5pm to roll around (19 more minutes!) so that I can go home and test this puppy out😀. Yeah, I'll bet THUGS is gonna come busting out of the gate😉. I'll post some preliminary results later on tonight, which I'll verify for stability afterward. I'm hoping for big-time results due to the fact that this cpu is a C1🙂.

More later. . .

Erik

Looking forward to it Erik!! Good luck! 😀

...jeez, I hope I'm not in bed when you guys start....😛

I'm typing this at 2736MHz, 228fsb😀

My system locked at the Windows desktop at 230, need better RAM🙁

Thanks for kickin' this off, Mikki. It's been a while since I've felt this rush🙂
