ah a 1.7m 🙂

i believe they come in 1.3 1.4 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 and 2.0ghz flavors 🙂
ill assume they are all the "same" chips tho.
id suggest buying the cheapest ones you can find 😉

There's an Intel comparison chart here.
Some differences:

P4 socket: Desktop mPGA478B
P4m socket: Mobile mPGA479M

P4 v-core: 1.5v
P4m v-core: 1.3v

P4 Thermal Design Power: 65.7W
P4m Thermal Design Power: 30W

P4 Thermal Spec: 90c
P4m Thermal Spec: 100c
🙂

The cpu doesn't come with a heatspreader, so you either have to install one from another P4 or install your heat seak directly on the die. But, yeah, you can use standard P4 cooling. And due to the lower voltage, they're gonna run cooler...🙂

Cooler is better 🙂
But I really do see why you would want to run your FSB at 200 on anything but Granite Bay mobo.... You would need really fast DDR on a PE mobo at 200 FSB you could have you mem at DDR400 or DDR500 or DDR533..but i don't thing there any mem out yet that can take DDR500(i could be wrong) and you could do better then DDR400 at a lower FSB. So the only uses for this would be if you had a Granite Bay mobo.. but this it be cool to just to run your mobo at 200+ FSB 😀

Hiya dbwillis! No, I meant for this thread to be a discussion before the testing actually commences....🙂

Thugsrook will have his main thread, I'm sure, and I'll follow soon after with my results. If this does actually take off like we think it might, I'm sure there'll be lot's of threads after that!! hehe 😉 Like we've been saying, it'll hit big when we start running them in GB boards...😀

hmmmm, i might have to get one of these. my 1.6a@2.4 is getting a little long in the tooth. i'll have to get some better ram first, though.

ya gotta move fast or youll miss the Anandtech effect 😉

(actually this was started from Asusboards but none-the-less)

i wonder how long it will take til this hits front page somewhere?

my chip shipped yesterday ~ if im lucky ill have it on SAT 😀 😕

Nice! Personally I will wait for the Mobile P4 with a C1 Stepping, can't imagine how much fun that would be. 😀

Mikki's got his sig updated too. It'll be interesting to see how well the mobile processors work with Granite bay (my sights are set on Canterwood right now...got my memory already). It'll give sort of a preview to things to come.

Everybody chant! GB! GB! GB! hehe....🙂

I'm looking forward to playing with this, but I'll tell you now that I won't get as good of results as Thugsrook. Besides being Thugsrook, I'm using a P4B533-E, which we've already found has some quirkyness to it as far as the memory controller, and my older XMS3200 doesn't perform as well as Thug's newer XMS3000. I'll play for now and probably order some XMS3500 in prep for GB....😉

or are you all just waiting for results?

😉 🙂

just waiting.. 🙂
maybe if I get a GB mobo i would try this... 😀
but i have to little money 🙁 and i still need to buy books for school :|

hehe... lurking in the shadows waiting to see the results for sure! Thanks for turning me on to this, Mikki! Thugs, please post some UT2003 scores along with the Q3A benchies. 😀

Those heat specs are nice, even if you get it up to the same heat as a normal P4 it wouldn't be a problem. I so wish I could get one of them.
