Mobile P4 3.06 Prescott OC - 4.2 on air?

What is your 1M Super Pi time? With 4.2ghz it would have to be pretty good. Wondering if the 4.2ghz is a true 4.2.
 
Well if he doesn't need to raise the Vcore that much to reach 4.2......then in he wouldn't need water-cooling.

4.2ghz is wildly high even for an ES. Also your temps are far too low for a prescott.

I dont see how you can be unclear on the clockspeed? Just stop using 3rd party programs and do it via bios.
 
Well, I think the fact that it is a laptop chip in a deskop board is creating the confusion. I pretty positive the bios is giving a wrong reading as well, with the config I have now, the post screen shows something like

Mobile Intel Pentium 4 3.06
Clockspeed: 5.9 Ghz

Heh, I don't think so.

Have you tried just doing the math yourself? 250x14 = 3.5ghz etc...
 
Yes, 267 * 14 = 3738, which is what I think it is truly running. Running through 3dmark, the results are what I expected at around 3700 also. I think I'm getting wrong clock speed readings beacuase it was using the x23 muliplier to calculate the speed while really running with the x14.
 
Well, I think I'm going to keep this chip now that I know it's stable running at least 3.7. 🙂
Selling my 3.0e in FS/FT forum if anyone wants it, does 3.6+.

I assume what ES means it is Extra Special, or that is the testing CPU that the manufacturer sends to places like Anandtech and they left the Multiplier unlocked.

Although with the current news for intel I would not think that they would unlock anything to anyone.
