I understand you CAN use a mobile processor in a desktop but it drops to the low power mode (ie. 1.6GHz instead of 3.06) Anyone know if you can get full use out of the 3.06 mobile in a regular desktop somehow?

D.

PS. Side issue, anyone know where to find homebrew bios for a Dell 8250 to allow overclocking?

Mobile default to their speed step multiplier (12)in desktop boards. So you have nice fsb @cling potential, just crank up the fsb!

I have not tried a 3.06, but I had sucess with P4 1.6 and 1.7's. As expected the multiplier defaults to 12x, so you had better have a high fsb capable motherboard to realize the processor's capabilities.

Motherboards I've had success with are Abit's AI7 and Asus's P4S800. Some motherboards will not recognize the processor, so I've heard. Karaktu has posted alot on the subject. Maybe search his threads.
