Hi,
I have done some extensive googling to find a mobile charger with on/of switch which enables you to turn off the output.
There ARE chargers with a switch, but these you have to push for a longer period of time (seconds) to switch off the output.

I want to use it to feed a usb led lamp for a notebook, but I need to be able to switch the light off instantaniously.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
Rob

does your usb LED lamp have a battery? if not, mobile charger wont work!
mobile chargers cannot be used to power things on. mobile chargers can only power things with batteries in them.
i tried using an Anker mobile charger to power on my LED lamp. it worked for 5 mins and then the Anker auto shut off. for whatever reason, the Anker charges my mobile phones all the way through fine though.

That is interesting. I dont really want to beleive that. If power output is 5V then it should power up a lamp also. I HAVE an old kodax charger which runs on rechargable batteries. It lits a small usb led lamp!

It depends on the power rating of the charger and the lamp. If the charger can provide more or equal power (or current) than the lamp requires then it will work fine.

Why not just wire a switch into the circuit? If you're jerryrigging something anyway, might as well do it well, right?

Why not just pick up a little outlet switch like that one and plug your charger into it. Or you can get extension cords with switches in-line commonly used for lamps.
