mobile broadband cards - verizon or sprint or ?

I don't want to get screwed with a 2yr contract on something that I will regret.

Are these cards adequate for use with a vcn connection to transfer a bunch of data?

What are the real data transfer rates not the advertised ones?

Is it worth using for IT support?

i have a cingular one and if you want i will run some speed tests on it. i had a sprint card but after buying it i found that they didn't even have the correct drivers for it, so it was a no-go for me.

i did just did a road trip from phx, az to (la jolla) san diego, ca up to los angeles, ca and never lost connection - had good speeds the whole trip.

using dsl reports and speakeasy speed test and hitting servers around the country here is what i came up with - one thing - my connection is listed as a "weak signal"(1 bar out of 5) according to the cingular program and i am in the "edge" network area at the moment

from 10 d/l / u/l tests:

peak d/l = 126.8 KB/s
lowest d/l = 31.9 KB/s
avg d/l = 68.32 KB/s

peak u/l = 14.3KB/s
lowest u/l = 12.9KB/s
avg u/l = 13.36KB/s
