My only Barton-M was a dud. Got a 2400+ that didn't have the 45w or 35w listing about 8 months ago and it peaked @3200+ stable 1.75v but it wouldn't go higher stable even with 1.85v. I had a week 11 '02 Barton 2500+ that did 2.43ghz, and T-Bred Bs 2100+@2.4ghz and 2400+@2.35ghz all on less than 1.85v so you can imagine how bummed I was to get the holy grail of sktA CPUs just to get what amounted to substandard results.

I just bought a NF7-S V2 from FS/FT and I have a 35W 2200+ sitting here so hopefully it will manage 2.5ghz+ on 1.85v or less.

You should have LMK.. I had both a mobile barton and NF7-S FS in forum. 2500Mhz on default desktop vcore prime95 stable!!! 2700Mhz on 1.8...

Course I was selling at full retail price with those exceptional pieces. Mobo hit 240Mhz on dafault bios..

Well I got stuck with this 2200+ as I didn't buy it for myself, and I'm stuck with the KW7 I mentioned to you as well.

The KW7 is the worst excuse for an Abit enthusiast board I have ever worked with. All the overclocking functions are borked even with a modded bios and mobile chip. It runs great stock but that is useless to me with this chip. I read it doesn't even have a working AGP/PCI lock either, and to top it off they haven't even released a bios update since the board came out :|

I thought it would be good to see how the Via offering stacks up to nF2 but this Abit isn't even in the same league for overclockability. I must admit the feature set and price are nice though. Anywho looks like I'm going to eat the 15% restock&return shipping to send it back to ZZF so if anyone needs a good stock dual channel sktA board they should have this on the cheap as open box soon ;)

So does anyone else out there have a chip with A stepping? Mine chip is and i haven't really been able to stabilize it at 12x200 on a NF7-S. Highest vcore I've tried is 1.65 so far...should I go higher?

My 2600+ mobile is a AQYHA stepping and it's currently running at 11.5x215 @ 1.80v.

Considering they are identical to the desktop Bartons, which have a stock voltage of 1.65, I have no problems running it 1.75v or 1.80v if you have adequate cooling.

Bump that puppy up to 1.70v or 1.75v and you'll probably be fine at 12x200.

my 35w 2400+ needed 1.725v to get 12X200 and my 2600+ needed 1.75v to get 12x200

you're fine as long as temps are good at these volts, heck even 1.85 is safe as long as temps are good

And if you have faster memory, try lowering the multiplier...
I got 2000+ Mobile, and am running @ 215 x 10! :) When I get less lazy, I will try something like 230 x 9.5 (or even 240 x 9!!) or something... see sig.
