Mobile Athlon XP 3000+ ?

Newegg now has a mobile Athlon XP 3000+ for sale but unlike the other models which are 1.45V (45W) or less, this one is 1.65V (72W) which is the same as the standard 3000+ Barton. Is this is a typo, or is it really just exactly the same as the regular Barton but with a different bus speed/multiplier? 72W would seem a bit high for a CPU targetted as a "mobile" CPU.

Could be a typo. I remember the whole go-round with the 128-bit 9800 pros...You could try emailing Newegg, but I doubt even AMD has CPUs that are possible of 2.2Ghz @1.45V

wow, i was the one that emailed newegg about getting the mobile 3000+ in stock so i can upgrade my laptop and now they added it. newegg is the best!

If the increased power requirements and thus increased heat dissipation numbers are accurate, you probably would not want to upgrade you laptop to a 3000+, because it wasn't designed for such a CPU, and you'll likely end up ruining your laptop in short-order.

actually, i'm very sure my laptop is designed for the cpu, cuz there are other laptops of the same model i have that utilize the 3000+
