That's if you're getting this laptop since it has builtin 802.11g... Just make sure you get a g wifi router, otherwise you won't benefit from the extra bandwidth... Like always search for reviews before you buy anything... Personally I'd stay away from dlink, anything else is a safe bet....

I agree...I have the Dlink Super G (108mps) setup, and it works fantastic. I think they put out a better product than Linksys or Netgear.

every dlink I've had has been crap... I currently have a g dlink pci card and it has tons of disconnection problems... I have a linux PDA with a netgear b card and it never has problems, even has a better range

with my old dlink access point I could only go about 6 feet before the singal went from good to fair(same room even). With my linksys g WAP, I can go all the way to the basement(WAP is up stairs, so that's two floors, and the other side of the house) and I still get a signal... with the 6db directional antennas I get a full signal now...

Dang 1299.00 and 12 months no intrest financing. I kinda wish best buy hadn't just canceled my credit card(due to the fact that I ahdn't used it in a couple years, I think). But I woudl really rather get it at circuit city due to them having no restocking fee.

Well one of them was that model the othe rjust mentioned his was also 5400RPM

I think that's a YMMV thing. But WOW....if you got a 5400rpm HD this would be a smokin deal!
Mine has a hts548060m9at00 drive, which according to a quick Google is a 5400 RPM drive. I didn't even know I got lucky! That's awesome.

I got this laptop on the 23rd, before the 150 dollar rebate started. Could I return my laptop and instanty re-purchase it from BB and be eligible for the BB rebate? and would the dreaded restocking fee kill me(even though they wouldnt have to restock it)

PS this laptop definately kicks some ass

That's from Hitachi's 5K80 series, and is pretty much the best 60GB 5400RPM drive available right now. Makes this a better deal, as you don't have to spend another $150+ on a hard drive upgrade.

I'm surprised they're not advertising the use of the faster hard drive though...maybe to give them flexibility to use 4200rpm if necessary?
Anyways, I think this goes to show that eMachines laptops do use quality parts.

$1549 - $100 (emachine MIR) - $150 (BB MIR) = $1299.

:D It's in the ad today.

Dang I thought my circuit city stores were all out of them, but I was viewing the page for the M6807, I just checked the M6805 and they still have some. The DVD bunrer would be nice, but if I put one in my desktop then i won't miss it much. Circuit city still only mentions a 100.00 MIR, so if we pricematch to best buy we will get it for 1549.00-165(pricematch plus 10%)-100MIR=1284.00 before tax but after rebates.

How do I convince the girlfriend to let me buy one??

ALso the wireless will work to share a dial up connection for now won't it? Like i said earlier thats just temporary, but if I get it it would be nice to be able to browse the web from the recliner.

Depends how you have it networked right now, if the modem is on a computer. Then you'll need to setup a proxy on that computer and connect it to the router a long with any other computers. either way you're gonna have to give a little more info about it...

I think I'm going to pass on this, I figured out that it will be about 1650 for me after the tax and warranty upgrade... I think I'll just hold out a little longer and wait for the fuel cell and PCI express laptops to come out, either it will really drive down the price on these other ones, or the new features will make it worth the price...

The display model 6807 I saw at CC had a Travelstar DK23FB 5400.

I went to CC to purchase the 6805, but they would not PM BestBuy's AR price.

Yup. now the emachines laptop is $1299 after MIR at BB. If you have a CC nearby that carries the laptop, you can get an even sweeter deal with the 110% pricematch. Good lord I gotta buy me one NOW....

MonkeyDriveExpress - I'd say you lucked out getting a 5K80, which is the latest generation 5400rpm 8mb cache 40GB/platter hard drive. Most reports I've seen have mentioned various 4200rpm 2mb cache drives.

Well I'm typing on my M8605 right now, I want to hold initial impressions cause the first thing I did was slap a DVD movie into it and it started playing but the screen has line noise going vertically across the screen, it looks kinda yellow and is really noticable in black areas. I went to ATI's site to update the graphics drivers but in the mobile section eMachines isn't listed. Can anyone help me out? Cause if this isn't a driver problem this puppy is going back, which makes me sad because I got Circuit City to "price match" BB. What they did for me was since BB had a 150 rebate and I brought it up, they checked it and told me that the best they could do was take $100 off the tag price so instead of $1539 I got it for $1439 and I still apply for the rebate so in the end it would of run me 1349 plus tax which makes this a darn good deal. So please someone help me!
