I have ab asus mo/bo that will not output to its lpt1 port.I suspect a broken trace,so I put an old isa parallel board in,and it wont print from it either.I have tried about everything I can think of.Can anyone offer any help? Its an older lx mo/bo a 2plx97.

Have you tried printing from dos (start computer i dos mode, not a dos window) try something
like "copy config.sys lpt1:".
If it works from dos, then you probably have some driver or other software blocking your
lpt port eg. printerdriver or scannersoftware....

If that doesn't work you might have an irq conflict. The lpt port is usually on irq7 check your other cards, older soundcards usually like irq7. One other thing to consider is that when you
insert the addon lptport, dont forget to disable the onboard lpt port 🙂

There is probably some other program/driver blocking the lpt port. Press ctrl+alt+del and shutdown all programs one by one except EXPLORER & SYSTRAY. Now try printing again, if it works try shutting down the programs one by one and do a print after each to find out which program causes the problem. Also check the port setting in your printerdriver (eg. lpt1🙂.

You can also try installing the printerdriver again (uninstall first).
