Reporters at the Pioneer Press of St. Paul, Minnesota gathered data from all 224,915 traffic infractions issued in the state over the past three years.

The most common ticket was for driving 12 miles per hour over the speed limit. 😱
Only 3 percent of tickets were written for drivers going less than 10 miles per hour over the limit


glad that's not usually the case in DC/va/md area.
it's usually 15mph over to get a ticket around here, except in speed camera areas where it's 12mph.

That's what I'd expect to see. Around me you usually get 10 mph buffer except in school zones where they're very strict. 65 in a 55 the cops generally let slide. At 67-70 is when they start paying attention. And that's what most people do. Very few people are doing 100, on the bell curve the vast majority of the speeders are in the 67-75 range. So of course that's going to show the highest number of tickets. I don't have any real complaints about the state police around here, they're not pricks and they're not out to screw people who do 62mph downhill. To get a speeding ticket you have to be well over the limit. 10mph free is very reasonable.

i think that's pretty common. i have a friend who worked state patrol and in years she never saw a ticket less than 9 MPH over the speed limit.
