Anyone playing on tearfall? I have a guardian mage, level 20. Had some fun doing the first instance, and been doing the warfronts.

Server's down 30 minutes for maintenance. Good thing TBH, cause I have some RL obligations to handle this afternoon and it would've been tough to pull myself away otherwise....

Is there some kind of newbie guide type thing yet that explains the mechanics behind the rifts, invasions, etc?

Really though, the more I play this game the more I'm liking it.

Basically i get in a raid and fight/heal my ass off.

Basically join a public group when the option appears and just heal or dps as much as you can [you'll survive longer if you heal]. Silverwood has been having numerous massive invasions today - so just follow the group wherever they go [or quit and regroup since people will tend to split up]. You also want to try and help battle the main invasion mob - those drop the very nice RIFT "currency" so you can buy the epic gear from the RIFT vendors. :)

That part I know. I mean more the mechanics behind them. What makes rifts appear? Totally random or is there something that triggers them? What makes a rift start spawning invasions? Etc....

It was pretty damn epic tonight on Estrael. Had probably a dozen fire rifts dropped into silverwood. I was in a raid outside of Sanctum, we closed 3 major rifts in a row, then spent about 20 minutes straight fighting invasion waves... then a 300k epic boss. Fun times!

I think it has to due with zone population. In beta tons of shit was going down in the first zone of each faction. Once I moved into the next zone a few rifts but nothing major. Two zones up nothing was happening as not many people leveled that high or where in other zones.

yea, from what I remember it is all dynamic depending on the number of players, just like the mob respawn rates.

I was in gloomwood (i think that is what it's called, after silverwood) and when I first got in there, there was only a handful of other people, later that evening as more people logged on and lvl'd up more it had invasions and rifts opening everywhere as well, but not as crazy as the noob area.

I spent a lot of time yesterday doing warfronts, man if your team wins you get a nice chunk of exp. I went from 23-29 just doing those while doing a lil questing in between when the queue wasnt instant.

Just hit 18 - sounds like I should try out some warfronts.

I also need to figure out a second role for my mage - right now I've got warlock/necro and I have dominator for just mez.

Thinking warlock/pyro would be good for warfronts or burning down mobs.

I am curious about the pvp aspect of this game. Are there plans to make it deeper than the 4 warfronts? Any chance at pvp zones to be contested over?

I have a little experience PvPing as a mage. Bottom line: mages have a hard time in PvP at low levels. Rogues will simply kick your butt (esp from range: marksmen/rangers/sabs do the type of range damage mages should be doing imo), clerics will heal through your damage and laugh at you, and warriors have too much health for you to burst down. That said here are some ideas:

- Necro/lock/dom: lets you DoT up everyone, annoy them with roots and snares, and you have a couple of crowd control moves

- Chloro/lock/dom: healing instead of DoTs. Most mages I see in warfronts work as healers rather than damage-dealers.

If you want to try pyromancer in PvE, give pyro/elem/archon a shot. Take the +fire damage and mana-back-on-crit talents in the archon tree, the +crit chance in the elemental tree, and put the rest of your points in pyro. That build got me almost to 30 in beta. It shines in PvE, but is terrible for PvP.

So far I'm liking Rift. It's a nice diversion. However, I'm still at the lower levels. I'd have to see how the more difficult invasions are handled to give a definite answer. The lower level rift invasions are nothing special so far.

As for how rifts open. They're random but affected by zone population. From what I understand, with higher level zones, there can be a "tear" but no actual rift opening up for a bit. You can fashion planar lures that forcibly opens the rift. This gives you an advantage with slightly weaker mobs.

Didn't play as much today due to RL stuff, partly through 31 though. I'm really liking the bard, I am incredibly hard to kill and usually just ignore people attackin me in warfronts and just stand there while I'm doing my own thing helping the team out. I quest using the bard soul as well, the lower dps from the other rogue souls does make it feel slower at times. But my survivability is great and I've found pulling a handful of mobs at a time and just using my AOE coda works out great, I can kill 4 a little bit slower then I can kill 1. If I didn't have my G15 keyboard though I'm not sure I would keep playing the class simply cause of the motifs. I have a macro setup to play all 5 of them with one button. Having to keep refreshing them every 30 secs or so could become a real pain in the ass, in PvE I only use them with multiple mobs/group/rifts things, in PvP they are on the entire time as they should be.

Even though charts don't tell the whole story, every warfront I play in, at the end I check most healing done and I am normally 2-4 times higher then the next person, I don't know if this has anything to do with that but I also win around 95% of the warfronts I play as well (could be luck and nothing to do with me).

Not enough people seem to be willing to play support and just want to do lots of dmg.

I'm enjoying the game though quite a bit so far though.

Question for those who are playing, I'm trying to gauge how money making is, I'm currently 31 with 37 plat, I think that is average but I am just curious. I have runecrafting and mining, so I runebreak all the greens and stuff I get and I smelt and sell the bars as well as cloth I get.

Unfortunately it is back to work for me. Made it to level 42 (where I last left off in beta) and couldn't go any further. Should hit 50 by the end of the week though.

I started playing at the weekend. It's pretty good so far, I like the talent system and the zone wide raid quest things. Currently at level 19 with a bard/ranger, I've been topping the healing charts in the first pvp battleground - capture the crystal or whatever it's called.

I want to have a go at the pve dungeon tonight, but I'm not sure how to find a group. Is there an interface like WoW or do you just have to spam the chat channels?

Got to talk to people, usually in the lvl range channel is where people will be LFG for the dungeon of their lvl or looking for people for their group.

I hope dungeon finder never comes to this game.

I'm playing on Faeblight as a Defiant-side warrior. Character name is also Avogadro. Feel free to say hello if you are playing on Faeblight as well.

I took Thu and Fri off of work, and made it as far as L21, so I'm done with Freemarch and it looks like I pulled ahead of the masses. At least for now. So far the server has been very stable and everything has been smooth!

Avogadro holy crap! Hey dude its Boda. We ran Iron Tombs on Friday or Saturday. I hit.. 31 yesterday but I spent a crapton of time doing the epic Saga of the Endless quests so I'm sure you're 35 by now or something.

BTW anyone know where to get the Control Panel thing from the Golden Maw? I know the Pure Distilled potion is from a sap in Droughtlands.

For anyone on the fence, the game is great. Other than the queues, there has been little to no lag whatsoever even with zone-wide invasions happening and 50+ people in one area. The class system is amazing and you can have a ton of widely varied combos. I mean even if you just play for the free month it's well worth your $50 to play and have fun for a bit.

well bought the CE yesterday and joined my brother and his wife on a PVE server.
not too bad so far.
much more polished than even the last phase of beta so far.

Rolled 2 toons.. DPS warrior paragon/rift/warlord.
and a rogue Nightblade/bladedancer/demo

the rogue DPS is so much higher than the DPS warrior.. alot more fun to play.
sucks my guild had already made me bags and bound them on my warrior..

I always found the wow dungeon finder quite useful. Especially at low levels. Doing heroics with it was a bit frustrating though because everyone just wanted to race through to get their tokens or whatever.

Started my first toon at lunch time. A Warrior Champion/Reaver/Warlord or Riftblade for the 3rd soul...can't decide.

I played in the open beta and now the game feels a little more polished, it's cool.

I started my toon on Faeblight on the Guardian side.
Name's Balmir if anyone cares.

Hope to run some dungeons and other stuff later on!

Ha! I thought there was a decent shot someone would recognize me. I'm something like 3% away from hitting L27. I made the mistake of rolling a mage alt and getting him through Freemarch, so lost a day's worth of leveling doing that.

Assuming I can get through the queue, I'll catch up soon enough.

PS. I got a Hoppy pet on Saturday  , so now I tank with an evil bunny rabbit at my side.
