Did the STO anniversary quest 4 times over 3 chars. Did not actually receive the selected reward when completing it on any of those 3 (did receive the commendations and got the ship on all). On the one I went and did it again on I was not even able to complete the quest as it gave me some duplicate errors. Since the uniform is supposedly gone after the event, will be interesting to see how they resolve this.

Just got an email about a WoT promotion. From now till May 8th they have a log in promo. Get rewards for number of days you log into the game.

I'll have to check later if there are any details of note.

If anyone was thinking of trying Star Trek Online, if you do it by Wednesday night your characters will be "Delta Recruits" that get extra goodies while leveling up. You just need to get past the tutorial mission on a character, you can finish leveling it any time in the future.

To min-max this you would create a Federation, Klingon and Romulan character so you can see each faction's level up stories and get all of the bonuses.

If you want a space wizard Science captain, Federation is the best choice for that since the Klingon and Romulan factions do not have any endgame science starships yet.

Note that in STO the tank - healer - dps trinity does not really apply. Everyone is a dps with a secondary flavor spec (tactical = extra dps, engineering = extra tanking, science = space wizardry). Also, most of your space powers come from your ship and crew. Escort = dps+dps ship, cruiser = tank+dps, science = magic+dps.

Haven't played recently, but do have one of each three that have been played some. I need to do anything new to get that bonus?

Are they actually "Delta Recruits"? This was a 2 month event for creating new alts. Once you create them and go through the tutorial missions there is a time travel event and that character is given a temporal communicator.

You then play through the normal level up missions but with a tiny bit of extra content tied to your communicator. As you level up, your alt gets rewards and also unlocks rewards for your other characters.

You only need to create and do the tutorial for each character before May 21.

The level 10, 20, 30, 40 rewards for the new Delta Recruit is your choice of space or ground gear. Ground gear is the better choice. Also save the lower-level ground armor, shield, weapon to possibly level them up later for your bridge officers.

All this talk about STO made me want to check it out again. However, the whole account management seems to be a clusterfuck. I haven't played in 4 years and now it's all connected to this arcgames thing. I can't log in using my old credentials. When I try to register an account at arcgames, I get:

"Someone else has already registered that Email Address. Please use one that has not been registered yet."

So, I tried requesting a password reset and get:

"This Email Address is not registered for an Arc Games account."

Yeah, this is helpful.

Yeah, your account was before the whole switch over to PWE. I had a spare account that was in the same boat a few months ago. Eventually said screw it and just created a new guest account. Unless you have a lot of money invested into that other account (Lifetime Sub, Preorder bonuses, etc), I'd recommend doing the same. Otherwise you'll need to partake in the failure that is PWE support.

Yeah, those bonuses only apply to new characters created during the event.

Didn't have any science chars so made three last night going through the tutorial and until they got back to their capital and spoke to the npc from the time continuum service.

Not sure how much I'll play them but at least I have a delta on all three factions.

Somewhat odd was checking my email and getting a message from the KDF about that char, but nothing for the other two.

The Delta Recruitment event ended early Thursday morning, so it's too late :)

I enjoy playing STO and for a F2P game they're pretty generous. Unlike SWTOR you never pay for story content. Instead the better endgame starships cost $30 unless you get one free at one of the annual events (Summer, Anniversary, Winter) or grind for currency. Plus the usual costume unlocks, like if you wanted to dress your captain and crew in Original Series outfits instead of TNG.

I've been playing STO since beta but I've been finding myself playing less and less. They're back into full OMG EVERYONE FLY ESCORTS mode and the power creep has gotten obscene. The new rep console is just plain silly. If you're perfectly happy playing the glass cannon, it's still fun. I'm just not.

My highest char is in mid 50s, and moved him into defiance. He's an eng and had been cruisers till then.

Damage difference between cruiser and escort (and let's not talk flyability) is so absurd there's no way I'd believe it to be anywhere near that different in "actual universe".

And I still haven't gotten my account issue resolved. I suppose I have no reason to even bother at this point. The last two responses from PWE support have had nothing to do with my account, and the one before that told me to register for an account when my original support email clearly indicated that I could not do that. So absolutely useless.

Rift has the nightmare collector's editions 50% off for three days, the first time they've been on sale since they were released.
