Too bad it's limited by that 5 or 6 speed transmission. If he could re-gear the axles so that he could use the first 2 or 3 speeds in the tranny that thing would really fly and never run out of fuel. Bet he gets better than the 6 mpg I use to get with that engine in the t800's I drove. And it's a shame he can't even use all that power to haul some plywood or 2x4's 🙂
 
Another update. I changed out the plate again and did some tuning, governor springs, etc. It pulls better and sucks fuel ?better?. OK, not so much.
We did 800 miles up and down passes and hills with my foot in it and got a solid 12 MPG.
The performance is quite solid. Those that know highway 18, I climbed Tiger Mountain at 60 in 3rd, and then went down the steep side at 60 without using the brakes. The exhaust brake held that hill like a champ at that speed.
The beach run is just about flat so I will check that one again today.
