Dolphin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin

Dolphin FISH: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolphin_fish

see, everyone ive EVER heard in the fishing world has said that a dolphin is not a true dolphin. a dolphin itself refers to a fish, a bottlenosed dolphin refers to a mammal.

and boom, back at you, which ones right?

MIKE
WTF are you babbling about?

nothing, dolphin means both mammal and fish, and you dont actually have to specify which. although the fish itself is a game fish.

MIKE
Make up your mind. Or stop posting. Or something...christ, you're obnoxious.

I'm not in the fishing world, and I highly... HIGHLY doubt most people on this board are. When 'normal' people thing dolphin, they think "Flipper, flipper faster than lightning" dolphin. That's all there is to it.

Which is why I made the thread because it is a play on words and how one would take it as dolphin the flipper or dolphin the fish. I of course at the fish because eating flipper would be wrong 😛
Although if you fried it up and threw butter and seasonings on it I might just have to eat it, but again that would be wrong. But I bet good, but wrong, light creme sauce pored over it with some peas, mushrooms and alfrado noodles, no thats wrong.

mahi mahi is good. beautiful fish too when you pull them out of the water. nice bluegreen on the top and yellow on the bottom. they lose their colors fairly quick when out of the water tho.

my favorite would have to be blackened redfish, followed by fried triggerfish, then fried black mullet. mullet is almost sweet when its nice and fresh. i like some red snapper and grouper too.

MMMM.. I went for a company trip to Key West.. We rented a 40' Egg Harbor to do some fishing..

Caught quite a few dolphin. They filleted them on the dock, then we took the fish to a plac called Turtle Krawls - they blackened the fish, and served it with some side dishes - it was like $4.00/person. 😀

More money for beer!

AWESOME fish to catch AND eat!

dolphin rocks. and you do not have to call it dolphin fish, because in all actuality, dolphin is a fish, and flipper is not a dolphin. it is a bottlenosed dolphin, which is just not techincally correct.

although dolphin itself is also known as mahi mahi to a lot of people. it also is a very shiny fish in water, but very dull outside of water.

MIKE

actually you should call it dolphin fish because a real dolphin (like flipper) is protected (i believe) ---- apologies... only some species of dolphin (mammal) are protected

a dolphin - intelligent mammal
dolphin FISH - aka: mahi mahi - a common dish

there is a difference... you dont eat dolphin, you eat dolphin fish
