MMMMMM.....50 jiggabytes of DVD lovin' coming soon.....

oh joy another trend..i still dont have a dvd writer in my system. I knew i was waiting for something...

The cost of the burners and cost of the media will be what I go by, if HD-DVD is cheaper then 20 gigs on a single layer will be enough. BluRay and 27 gigs on a single layer is a bit more but not enough to be worth the extra cost if there is any.

PS: I doubt to many will be burning dual layer disc on either format because it will be slow and very expensive.

yay blueray! and yes, my pr0n over just a few discs! w00t!

and sonys been selling blueray stuff in japan for a while now. but this development combined wtih tdk's sweet anti scratch tech makes it ever more feasible.

I take it then that blue-ray won the toss up.
No, not yet. Hopefully it does though; if we're going to make a media shift, let's make it count and move to a high-density blue-laser format, and not just a suped-up red-laser format.

I have a feeling the burners are going to be very $$$. When they came out in Japan, I think they were $3,000. Not sure how much the media is. The question is how fast will it drop and how much will HD-DVD be.
