I'll check that out... :)

I just got the thermal vacuum carafe I ordered, and with all this coffee talk, I do believe it's time for a pot of french roast...

eh, their equipment is better then home equipment though. and i'm just lazy.

atleast when i used gevalia, it bothered me a little that their vacumn packages didn't have one way valves. to my knowledge, to package truely fresh coffee u gotta use a sealed bag with a one way valve to let the co2 escape. freshly roasted beans put out loads.

They must have changed that because the bags I got have that. I know what you mean because the bags of Eight 'O Clock beans I get from the store have them...

ah k, cuz when i got em, they came in little hard solid foil bricks in paper boxes heh

I like Oren's in NYC. I just buy whole beans grind them fresh. Mix it with soy for my daily coffee intake. Sometimes I will mix in some Ghirardelli's cocoa powder for a mocha.

What water:coffee ratio do you use?

I don't really know to tell you the truth. I sort of have a feel for how much coffee to grind/use for the amount of coffee I'm making, and I vary it depending on what I'm making. For instance, I make my ice coffee extremely strong so when I put a bunch of ice in, it's not like water when the ice is halfway melted.

Good trick for rapid cooling iced coffee. Pour the brewed coffee into a metal container as soon as it's done, then submerge that container in cold water, ice, or best of all ice and water. Stir the coffee constantly, and it will be cold in just a couple of minutes with ice, and a few more with cold water. I will often just use a copper bottomed saucepan I have, and submerge it in the sink with cold water.

:)

Holy crap. I just changed my mind and made another pot of Mocca Java, but I used a bit more beans this time. I think I had gotten used to a lesser amount with the stronger French Roast I had been drinking. What a difference...it's waaaaaay better than the pot I made yesterday.

Sugar + Cream = YUM

I probalby shouldn't be drinking coffee now since it's almost 11am, been home from work for about 3 hours, and I have to work tonight...oh well...who needs sleep?

:p

I prefer no cream and sugar in my coffee...tastes like candy! Anything black with caffeine will do fine for me.

As for your black coffee is coffee comment....you consider that store brand instant junk the same as some freshly ground and brewed good stuff?

instant is def not the same as fresh ground and brewed. what im trying to say again is i don't how people can add sugar, creamer, and loads of other stuff to coffee and still call it coffee. As soon as you put anything in the coffee, it is no longer coffee, imo. I drink black coffee. To me, coffee should be enjoyed plain, without added creamers and sugars, etc.

On occasion i will get iced blended coffee stuff from starbucks, however, i get those more for their sweetness, not the flavor.

When I was growing up in Chinatown, a lot of the people there like their coffee with a tea bag in it. Called the drink "half and half" I think.

Vietnamese coffee is pretty good too. They use the sweet condensed milk instead of cream and sugar. I might try putting that in my brew from now on.

Oh yea, don't ever drink 7-Eleven coffee. I've tried many different 7-Elevens all over Northern Virginia and they are all horrible. Same goes for most gas station coffee.

theyve gotten better recently. well mostly because they now have all those nice flavour syrups most coffee shops would charge u 50 cents for. so for coffee that a traditionalist would scoff at its not too bad. flavor syrups + flavoured creamer hehe
