Here is what I'm working with:
-Windows 7 64-Bit Enterprise RTM (no win updates)
-Gigabyte EX58-UD3R mobo rev. 1.6 - BIOS ver. FB, May 09
-Intel i7 920 running @ Stock
-G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7T-6GBPK
-Antec Basiq 550 Plus
-WD Caviar Black 1TB drive
-Intel X25-M 80GB Drive Gen 2 w/ latest firmware (running in AHCI mode)
When I first got all the hardware together, I ran Memtest86+ for over 40 passes and no problems detected. I ran Prime 95 for an hour and temps never got above 63 C for the CPU. Originally I setup my system with the WD SATA drive only and I set the memory to its rated timings in the mobo Bios 7-7-7-18 (It was defaulting to 'SPD' settings in the BIOS of 8-8-8-20). I installed Win 7 fine. But after a few hours, I started getting BSODs of IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, many more MEMORY_MANAGEMENT STOP 0x1A blue screens. I also noticed that the BIOS was ONLY detecting two sticks of ram and not all 3. So what I did is set the memory back the detected 'SPD' settings in the BIOS, with default memory voltage. And all was well in the world and no more BSOD's and the BIOS picked up all three ram sticks.
Then I installed Windows 7 on the Intel SSD and kept the Memory settings in the BIOS to 'SPD' settings of 8-8-8-20, which is higher than they are rated for. Now I am getting BSOD's again, with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors. In fact, I just left the Windows login scren sitting there and after 20 minutes it BSOD's on me an restarts Windows.
Because this is a new rig, I know it could be a few things causing this. But can anone think of something to pursue as the possible culprit. I have not updated the BIOS yet as I'm benchmarking now and don't want to skew results. Also, on the gigabyte site it does not mention any memory/stability improvements as part of the latest BIOS updated. Has anyone heard of RAM being defective, but not being detected in memtest86? I'm not O'C'ing at all, so I thought that would result in not real issues. WRONG.
