OK, so I cheated and used lemon juice from a squeeze bottle. So sue me!

Any good recipces? I toss a bunch of stuff in to the Cuisinart to taste depending on what I have on hand. Ingredients:

- chickpeas
- olive oil
- lemon juice
- salt
- garlic
- parsley
- tahini

I always immediately think of "haggas" when I hear the word humus...which has created a mental barrier preventing me from eating it.

i think that's in general the basic recipe for hummus.

i know that's about all me and my gf put in it... although we put a LOT of garlic in it.

i now crave toasty pitas.

that seems simple enough.

I have to say that i tried making it before for my hubby and i and it was horrible! i do not know what i did wrong, but i would like to try your recipe too!

When I was in high school I had a friend whose mom was Lebanese. She made awesome hummus and some sort of little meat-filled triangles of dough that were incredible. Wish I had gotten the recipes before we lost contact after college.

My mom (Armenian), grew up in Lebanon, so she is the best cook I know. She makes Tabouleh and Hummus and Dolma, oh my god, you guys have to try it.

i tried making hummus using peanut butter instead of tahini.... word of advice: use as little as possible haha

You probably had a Syrian meat pie (probably known by other names as well). Delicious with spinach or potatoes instead (though when I ate meat (long ago) the meat pies ruled too).

WAY TOO EASY...I'll leave it for someone else. 😉

BTW, 2 thumbsupus for hummus!

Notably missing: Cayenne pepper.
I also throw in coriander, a little cumin, parika...and maybe something else? I wrote it down somewhere. Sometimes I mix in kalamata olives or sundried tomatoes or other things.

I've also found that it's better in a hand-cranked chopper as the food processor actually makes it TOO smooth!

Also good to brush pita break with olive oil, cut it up and bake it.
