wow.
sold that a year later.
Now has an original 1970 LT1 350 Vette.
All correct, except that there really is no "big block" Pontiac engine. They are all the same size externally. Most of the parts even interchange.Originally posted by: Sluggo

Meh that is an 81, 1979 was the last year of the big block Trans Am. If I remember my T/A history properly, the OP's pic shows "T.A. 6.6" on the hood scoop which denotes it as the last of the 400 Pontiac motors with a 4 speed transmission.
The majority of the 1979 models had an Oldsmobile 403 motor with an automatic transmission, those had "6.6 LITER" on the hood scoop.
What a mistake that was. Real Super Duty Trans Am's go for well over 50k now. Only 1200 made in 73-74.Originally posted by: Iron Woode

a friend of mine had a '79 with a 403 olds engine until it burned to the ground while he was driving it outside of austin.Originally posted by: Willoughbyva
Yeah mine had a 403 olds engine/ automatic.
455 was available from 1971-1976 only. The SD's that were referred to were in 73-74.Originally posted by: MX2times
Didnt some TA's have 455's in them?

In 71-72, there was an HO-455, and in all the 455 years, there was always a regular 455.
Oh, yeah. The SD's were absolute beasts. The HO's were right there, too. Even the plain-Jane 455 was no slouch.Originally posted by: MX2times
