...new SETI machine! 😀

Here's what I just ordered:
  • Chieftec Super TX-103 case (Antec SX1030 without the door)
  • Antec True430 PSU
  • Pentium IV 1.6A @ ?.? (hopefully 2.4 GHz)
  • Gigabyte 8IEXP i845E motherboard
  • 512 MB PC2700 Samsung DDR RAM
  • Artic Silver III
  • VisionTek GeForce4 Ti 4400
  • Maxtor 80 GB 7200 RPM D740X HDD
  • Maxtor 60 GB 5400 RPM D540X HDD (backups)
  • Lian-Li RH-17 removable HDD rack (for the D540X drive)
  • Teac 1.44 MB FDD
  • USR 2977 PCI hardware modem
  • IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0
  • Lite-On 16X DVD-ROM
  • Lite-On 40x12x48 CD-RW
  • SB Audigy OEM
  • Logitech Z-340 speakers
Unfortunately the case and PSU won't be arriving until next Monday. 🙁 Stupid slow UPS ground. So I guess I'll have all weekend to scrape the thermal pad off my retail HSF. 🙂
Once I get this system built I'll provide plenty of benchmarks so you guys can see how MHz, RAM speed, and CAS settings affect SETI times.

Yep, it's a very nice mobo. There was a ton of stuff in the box..lets see
  • Quick installation poster
  • Motherboard manual
  • RAID manual
  • Case badge sticker
  • Quick reference sticker for mobo jumpers and pinouts
  • Two ATA133 cables, ATA33 cable, FDD cable
  • 3 port FireWire header
  • 4 port USB 2.0 header
  • Custom backplane cover
  • Motherboard 🙂
In a few pictures I had seen that there was a capacitor right in line with the AGP slot, so I was sort of worried about it. But the capacitor is the exact height of the AGP slot, so I think the video card will go right over it. I can't wait to get the rest of the stuff. 😀 Everything should be coming tomorrow and Friday except for the stupid case and PSU which won't come until Monday at the earliest (Directron is slow shipping stuff).

My P4 1.6A along with ASIII should be delivered tomorrow. So over the weekend I'm going to take the thermal pad off the HSF, put the ASIII on, and get everything installed on the mobo. That way it shouldn't take me long to get up and running once the case arrives. Here are the speeds I'm planning on benchmarking in Sandra CPU and memory, 3DMark2001SE, and SETI:
  • 100 MHz FSB
    1. DDR200 RAM SPD
    2. DDR200 RAM CAS2
    3. DDR266 RAM SPD
    4. DDR266 RAM CAS2
  • 133 MHz FSB
    1. DDR266 RAM SPD (should be close to the same as before)
    2. DDR266 RAM CAS2 (should be close to the same as before)
    3. DDR355 RAM SPD
    4. DDR355 RAM CAS2
  • 150 MHz FSB (if my P4 makes it this far)
    1. DDR300 RAM SPD
    2. DDR300 RAM CAS2
    3. DDR400 RAM SPD
  • 166 MHz FSB (if my P4 makes it this far)
    1. DDR333 RAM SPD
    2. DDR333 RAM CAS2
    3. DDR444 RAM SPD
