Mmm...Asparagus. Umm...how do I "prepare" it?

I was thinkin about sauteeing it with some butter and garlic and then maybe throw in some mushrooms and onion.

Do I need to cut off the base of the stalk first or just leave it as I got it from the store which was in a bunch?

Hmm, I disagree with cutting. The asparagus should break at the perfect spot, no knives required.

Anyway, whatever you do, don't cook it too long. Overcooked, mushy asparagus is a crime against humanity. (Asparagus is my favorite vegetable, so I have strong feelings.)

And yeah, it makes your pee smell very loud. Have fun with it.

hold 2 ends of the asparagus and snap it. it should break off at the "right" spot and you can discard the bottom end

rub some olive oil on it, a little salt. grill it. you can tell that the asparagus is done when you hold the asparagus sideways on 1 end and see the other end droop slightly under gravity.

I can't wait to see if this statement is true!
;)

it is.

Your sautee suggestion sounds tasty, as noted above cut about 1.5 inches off the bottom. Keep an eye on them if, like me, you hate mushy veggies.

Frying pan + little garlic + olive oil + butter + generous amount of salt and pepper + asparagus = good

I vote for "wrapping" it in bacon and "grilling" it. It "tastes" good and it's an easy way to "prepare" it.

I like to boil them with a little salt

and overcooking it DOES kill it.. it should be cooked, but crunchy
