MMA: Kimbo Slice VS Tank Abbott

Kimbo has been training with Bas Rutten and from what he's shown in his first two fights, he's no longer just a street fighter. He has improved skill wise, but Tank still has the edge on experience.

Unless Tank delivers a knock-out punch early on, he should run out of steam quickly. I could see Kimbo winning this one just on stamina. Age is definitely a factor here with Tank clocking in at 42 years of age.

Anyone else watching? We had a previous discussion on the fight here.
 
I'll check it out on youtube or whatever, but he just keeps fighting scrubs... Abbott is 42 years old and 1-7 in his last 8 fights lol. Not worth my time waiting around to see a 1 minute fight.

exactly. they got a hasbeen (even in his prime he was not great) who has NO ground skill. tank is perfect for Kimbo. he wins he get credibility as a MMA fighter.


 
I wonder if the reason he's fighting scrubs is because he doesn't want to fight better opponents or are better opponents ducking him.

exactly. they got a hasbeen (even in his prime he was not great) who has NO ground skill. tank is perfect for Kimbo. he wins he get credibility as a MMA fighter.

Tank has always had one punch KO power, he did KO Cabbage (his last win) Cabbage is pretty damn tough, even if he's lost quite a few of his fights. Cabbage typically doesn't get KO'ed

Kimbo has the edge for age and size, but never count out Tank.

With that said, I feel Kimbo will take it, but if Abbott unloads one of his nuclear warhead fists and actually connects it might be over. Kimbo's never been hit that hard and I don't know if he could survive. As quick and strong as Kimbo is, his toughness and jaw have never been tested. I want Tank to connect with a full blow, if Kimbo can withstand that we have the future HW champ. Kimbo will probably go on to dominate the division but if he can absorb one of Tanks hooks it'll prove to me he is as bad as I think.

I think win or loose for Tank this will be his last fight.



to squisher, if Kimbo wasn't known for his online brawls nobody would be commenting on the quality of his opponents. He shouldn't be fighting the best in MMA, he needs to train just like any other new fighter would. Cantrell was 10-10 or something? But he had 20 fights before he faced Kimbo. Kimbo has to work his way up to fight somebody worthy. Tank is actually a good stepping stone for him. Record and age aside, nobody hits as hard as Tank, and Kimbo needs to be hit so everyone can see if he's legit.
 
Tank Abbott is still fighting? Jesus, I remember watching him fight back in the mid 90s...he's going to get his ass kicked.

I haven't watched a UFC fight since...well, the mid 1990s.

my sentiments exactly, except i have watched a few UFCs here and there lately. IIRC Tank was in UFC 1.

one of the best fights was Cabbage agains ex champ (forgot his name. the big dude). they beat each other silly.



true tank hits like well a tank. he is also not above a cheap shot heh
