MLB2k9 coming for the PC!

I was so excited about this game, but the early reviews are extremely disappointing. For $20 I was planning to buy it right away, but after reading the reviews I have decided to wait.

Hopefully they can fix most of the issues with a couple of patches fairly quickly. Although I'm concerned they will just leave the PC version alone and blame low sales on piracy as that seems to be the reason of choice lately.
 
That sucks, I was really looking forward to a good sports game on the PC. I guess I'll wait to pick it up until after a patch is released.
 
Nothing that can't be fixed via a patch. Still having a lot of fun with it. I'm pleased with the $20 I spent. I've played $50 games with more bugs and were not very enjoyable.
 
does anybody know if a patch has been released for pc? I keep seeing that there has been a patch released and they are working on a 2nd...but i cannot find one for pc
 
Picked it up last night... Well worth the 20 USD...

Yeah, there are bugs... None that cant be fixed and really not horrid enough for me to put the game away...

What is more annoying is the announcer errors... But again... Not enough to put away.

Cant comment on trades yet. But Free Agent market 😀.

I may have to adjust a slider, if one exists..

I picked up Manny for 15.8 mill over three years.

Pedro looks interested for a 1.2 mill deal.... I think he could be a decent 4th or 5th starter...

Please understand, it has been years since I had a great baseball game.. So maybe my quality level is low. If ANYONE remembers Front Page Sports series... THAT was my game.. STATS up the wazzoooo.

Hey, question for those playing franchise....... Will the present year batting averages ever appear in the "coming to bat" screen.. I was tired... but I swear in game 3 of my season last night (Albeit 2 AM), I saw last years stats. that is fine for game one. I want present stats.
And are you playing True Touch or Feel.
WOW.. Makes the game a bit more challenging than pegging a target and hitting the A button.
So let me know.
 
considering the last baseball game I plated was mvp baseball '03 or something...I hate that they don't use living rosters for PC...I want to at least have the opening day rosters set before I start up my franchise.

I couldn't even edit Pelfrey and give him a slider :thumbsdown:

a few things were fixed in a patch but I don't think it was released to PC. i.e. the 1st baseman taking his foot of the bag at least once a game for me.
 
Yeah, to have found Manny on the free agent list was a tad wrong...
But he's mine now...

As stated earlier... I am a stat head.. ( OOTP was too boring, tried it twice)
I encountered the "steal" bug last night

Reyes on first... I let the pitcher throw one or two... let my batter get ahead in the count....
Take the BIG lead... SOB pitcher throws to first.. I am dead in the water...

Reyes dives to first.. Dead.. then trots to second... Safe.. 😕

OK, THAT totally sucks... But still not enough to put the game away..

God, maybe I am hard up......😱
 
the stealing system is brutal...its really hard to try and steal. When I get a good lead and try to steal, he throws over and I get picked off...when I get a small lead my runner will steal as the ball crosses home plate and he's dead to rights. Also sometimes I get in a rundown and the fielders stand on the bag and look like they are having catch and I can usually run back to the originally bag safety

Not yey for PC. According to their 2KSports Forum, the PS3 patch was just released with the other platforms to follow shortly.
 
I installed the patch the other day and haven't had time to fire up the game and play :| I don't know what the patch fixed.

The Major League Baseball 2K9 patch is here. PLAYSTATION 3 game owners can download it now via the PlayStation Network. Xbox 360 game owners will be able to get the patch Saturday April 4th through Xbox LIVE, and if you have the game on PC-DVD, you can get the patch in our downloads section.

Here's a list of some of the top issues addressed in the patch:

Reduction in amount of fly balls missed by outfielders (both the target and slowing down before a fly ball is caught have been fixed).
Tuned overall slider values to get a better stand alone game, based on community suggestions
Turned down Home Runs, should see dramatic improvement in number of home runs hit during game play.
AI aggressiveness tweaked ? AI will take more balls
Throwing in the ?Red? was way harder than the best ?Green? spot so maximum strength lowered in the red
In-game crash resolved when not opening the Pitch Overlay hud and then bringing in another pitcher. Will resolve late inning crashes.
Added variety so that all fielders arm strength isn?t so similar. Now the better arm strength fielders will make a difference.
The catcher will no longer disappear when switched with a DH, and umpire won't throw the ball backwards.
Added more variety in pitching by making the gesture be a little harder to nail down ?perfectly?
The base runner no longer JOGs home on sacrifice fly and ground balls
1st baseman?s foot no longer comes off the bag too easily, resulting in a lot of infield hits that should have been routine outs.
Pitchers will now walk off the mound after the 3rd strikeout in an inning.
Tuned numbers to fix the fact that pickoffs were too easy, especially at second base.
Increased the delivery speed of the animations from the stretch to improve throwing out the AI when they attempted to steal.
Pitcher rotation bug fixed where users in leagues would have their first bench player put in as their starting pitcher. They could adjust the starting pitcher but never get their bench player back to their line up. This would eventually lead to a crash.
Users can now send a trade when having nine pitchers or eleven hitters on their roster in a fantasy draft league online.
The Winning/Losing Streak in Online Menu will now populate correctly when viewing the Card Battle Leader boards.
League settings changes now will take affect immediately.
 
I haven't played baseball on the PC in so long.. but what I remember wishing for was more simplicity so I don't need a game controller.

1) can you play with just the keyboard (hitting is simplified, etc.)
2) can you save games mid-way through?

I will get a 360 controller if I have to but I don't play many non FPS games so I've been avoiding it.
 
you could use keyboard, but don't even try. it's a game that requires a lot of direction pushing and button pushing, will be very hard on keyboard. and yes i believe you can save and quit mid game. just get the 360 controller you mention if you buy this game.

warning: even with the latest patch, there are still issues with this game. small bugs and really stupid baserunning. hopefully there's more patches down the road. this might be the most disappointing baseball game i've ever played. thank god MLB exclusivity is expiring.
 
Does the patch fix any of the control issue quirks?

I couldn't even play with a 360 controller because it was all screwed up and I couldn't change the control settings.

Probably not though, I won't reinstall this game until it's at least playable... but by that time it'll be opening day 2010.
 
Bumping this to get someones experience with the game now that the patch has been out. Are most of the quirks fixed?

I still have 3DO's 'High Heat MLB 2002', and boy was that a great game. Perhaps my favorite thing was that you could edit anything. How are the editing features on this one?
 
there's only been 1 patch on PC and there are still issues, notably a major franchise bug that makes it impossible to play the mode.

i haven't touched the game in a while and i don't plan to. i'll never buy another 2k baseball game.
