MLB Umpires Pissing me off...

The homeplate umpire is fine, he is making good calls on pitches.

However 2 of the others have really pissed me off.

#1. Bad call on line. The indentation in the dirt was fair. The 3rd base coach said it was fair, and the ref didn't even call for help.

#2. Refused to call runner going to second out. He smashed SS's hand in the glove and called the guy safe. Then warned 3rd Base coach and LaRussa.

#3. RAN AFTER Jim Edmonds after the inning was over and through him out. Edmonds wasn't even looking at him, and was running towards the dugout.

How many more bad calls can you get. Seems to me this game has hit rock bottom for the cards.

Just out of curiosity, since Edmonds was already ejected, could he have sat their yelling and cussing the ref out. Or could the [horrible] ref done something else.

the umpires are human and humans make errors. unfortunately it's all part of the game, but when it's your team that gets a bum call it SUCKS all the more.

I mean i can deal with errors. I make more than my fair share, but now they are simply cheating my team here. They haven't given the call to the cards yet.

#2 was a very close play. After seeing a few replays, I thought it was a tie as I thought he got his heel on the bag at the same time Eckstein tagged the top of his foot. #3 was ridiculous though. There is no reason why any umpire should be following any player as the player runs off the field between innings. Hopefully the Cards will come back and win though.

But in all seriousness, could Jim Edmonds have sat their and yelled and crap at the umpire without any more reprecussions seeing as he was already thrown out of the game (for no reason)

The league might have done something to him.

I know it wouldnt happen...but wouldnt it be possible to put some kind of sensor in each ball..sure it would be cheap..then have a grid of sorts that could tell if the ball was foul, strike, or a ball. Its all very possible....and would make the gave extreamly fair and consistant....

But i agree..it shouldnt happen..umps are part of the game

I think they should shoot for Instant Replay (Like Football) first.. the problem is, there are A LOT more close plays in baseball than football so it might be abused.

Umps are getting so bad and are on ego trips. M's-Twins game today. Clint Nageotte, basically a rookie, comes in for his first pitch. He's thrown 1.1 IP this year. He's not a power guy. First pitch sails way over the batters head. He hangs his head, upset at himself for letting one get away. Wasn't staring down the batter. Ump throws him out. After one pitch. No warning, no nothing. There hadn't been anything earlier in the game w. teams throwing at each other. WTF is this ump thinking?

Ego trip is right. They refuse to turn over calls even if they see it on the big screen afterwards. And then they pull crap like that. I dont care if it is abused i would rather have a long ass fair game than a short horribly called game.

Baseball umpires never reverse their own calls. They should chalk it up as a blown call and move on.

QuesTec did not have a sensor in the ball. It was a video camera that graded umps balls/strike calls after the game. Everyone hated it. It's gone now.

A couple times I've seen the umps have a conference and reverse their call. It was a thing of beauty.

Ha, if you think that's bad you should have seen the M's - Twins game. The M's just re-called Clint Nageotte from AAA, and his first pitch in relief was a few feet above the batters head. Without any sort of warning, the ump tossed Nageotte. It was COMPLETELY CLEAR he was rusty, and the pitch was so far over his head there was no way it was intentionial.

Disgusting.

Stop whinning, Cards suck. Go Giants!

You must be a Giants fan. -_-

I heard about that M's and Twins, that is simply absurd. It would seem to me that this was not a good week for pitchers or a good week for umpires.

No.... maybe.... alright you got me. 😉

But still in spite of all that crap the ending was really good. The giants played well, just unlucky day for the cardinals.
