man, I hope so. I'm actually kinda glad the Mets are out of it so that I don't have to struggle with a Mets-Cubs NLCS.

I know what you mean ... FAR less stressful (and in a way more enjoyable) watching the post-season when your team isn't in it.

Don't get me wrong I would have rather the Met's won the WC game but at this point I'm nothing but proud of the way they came back and made the game at all. At 60-62 I'd stuck a fork in em!

And I've decided to adopt Cleveland this year since the Met's are done. (and despite Chief Waahoo being demoted) Memories of the old NL East make it impossible for me to root for the Cubs.

WS prediction: Indians vs Dodgers

well, Cubs are my team #2, so I'm not pulling for them just because Cubs. I would still find it difficult for a Mets-Cubs series...but happy with whatever outcome which is nice, as much as I would have loved to see the Mets at least get past the Giants in that joke of a "play-in game" that should never exist outside of a legit division or WC tie.

anyhoo, I'm pulling for the Indians too, because history, and because I really hate the BoSox. I have nothing against the Giants, but I'm just sick of them over the last couple of years.

Unless Boston wins 3 straight, damn, they be over. Blue Jays did win 3 straight last year which was bullshit.

Fuck yeah, I was worried about BoSox come the world series... but if blue Jay's want to do the cubbies a favor and knock them out and face an easier opponent then I can vouch for that.

Yup, Boston appeared to be the strongest team at the end of the season. but the way the Jays are surging... eeesh. Let's get 5 games out of the Dodgers v Nats, tire them out real good. I really hope the Cubs clinch tomorrow, I'll be working on little sleep all week if it goes to 5 games.

Blue Jays doing terrible despite being tied. Allowed six runs so far, hit count looks good on paper but leaving runners on. One out, bases loaded, all they manage is one run on a pitch that got away. This series has essentially been beat up the starter then lay back rest of the game.

Edit: And they managed to win on what should have been a double-play ball.

With the Rangers out, the rest of the postseason is merely a formality. :anguished:
Sports is dead to me until next spring.

(I will track the Cowboys' record though.)

that is how i always defined winter as a kid - when the indians are done playing, it was winter.

of course when i was a kid they would usually last well through october

You must be older that me. When I was a kid (in the 60s) the Tribe was done (most years) at the end of the regular season.

hard loss for the Cubs. But we proved that MadBum is human, and can be rattled. Tonights game should wrap the series up for the Cubs, but it's baseball, so any goddamned thing can happen.
Side note, this will be a long 10 hour day at work, after that game last night, holy fuckballs.....

Can't have the Cubs win. The fans around here will be insufferable.
actually the Cubs did extraordinarily well against one of the most elite pitchers in baseball. Ended his scoreless streak, had a pitcher hit a homerun off of him. Yup, they lost, but there are still some positives to be pulled from that loss. Madbum is human after all.

I wasn't saying they didn't do well, or WON'T do well in the postseason. In fact, sadly, I feel it will be quite the opposite. Living where I live though, we're inundated with transplanted Illinois residents and they are insufferable Cubs fans. I can only hope they make it to game 7 of the WS and lose in Billy Buckner style fashion.
